UNS Controsand Tahoe Pebble Gravel

Pebble Gravel 3–5 mmLight Neutral Tones100% Natural

UNS Controsand Tahoe is a rounded pebble gravel, about 3–5 mm, designed for freshwater aquarium use. Its neutral colour palette is versatile and suits a range of popular aquascaping styles. Tahoe works well alone or combined with other cosmetic sands to create a custom blend for planted tanks, terrariums and paludariums, and it complements vibrantly coloured plants and livestock. Note that UNS lists Tahoe among the shades that slightly raise GH.

Can I mix Controsand Tahoe with a fine sand?

Yes. UNS designed Tahoe to work alone or blended with other cosmetic sands. Its 3–5 mm pebbles scattered over an extra-fine sand such as Bora give a natural riverbed texture. UNS states that Tahoe may raise water hardness, so for soft-water shrimp use Bora or Kona.

Rounded 3–5 mm Pebbles

UNS Controsand Tahoe Pebble Gravel: frequently asked questions

What grain size and colour is UNS Controsand Tahoe?

Tahoe is a rounded pebble gravel with a grain size of about 3–5 mm, in a light, neutral palette of cream and tan pebbles.

Does Controsand Tahoe change water chemistry?

Slightly. UNS states that Controsand Tahoe may alter water chemistry by raising hardness, and lists it on the packaging with Mojave, Santa Fe and Maui as shades that slightly raise GH.

Is Controsand Tahoe safe for shrimp and bottom-dwellers?

Yes. UNS describes Controsand as safe for fish, invertebrates and reptiles, and the pebbles are rounded rather than sharp. Because Tahoe slightly raises GH, it suits Neocaridina better than soft-water Caridina shrimp.
